For the past 13 years, Survivor has taken us around the world to some of the most remote and exotic destinations. The twenty-seventh installment of the hit CBS reality show premieres tomorrow, and this season returns for the third time to the Philippines. Billed as Survivor: Blood vs. Water, the newest season will bring 10 former contestants along with 10 of their loved ones to the island of Palaui, a marine reserve where all 20 contestants will battle to take home the million-dollar prize.

MANILA – Senator Grace Poe on Monday said government should push for growth in film tourism to showcase the Philippines’ sights and culture.

For this, Poe said there should be a department whose sole purpose is to oversee international movie or TV productions shot in the Philippines.

“Let’s say I’m a producer in the US, I want to produce and use the Philippines as a location shoot, who do I call? There’s no one number. There should be a department with just one desk for that,” Poe told ANC.

The senator said she is in talks with Philippine Film Studios Inc. (PFSI) Jun Juban, the Philippine producer behind the “Bourne Legacy” and “Survivor” shoots in the country, for ideas on how to bring in more foreign productions into the country.

“I’ve met with Jun Juban, he’s the one who brings in all these big productions like ‘Survivor’ and ‘Bourne Identity,’ [I asked him] how can we make it easier?” she said.

Juban’s PFSI is the production firm behind the shooting of the US and international editions of reality TV show “Survivor” in Cagayan Valley and Camarines Sur.

A bill which seeks to make the country a primary shooting destination for local and international films is among the first bills filed by Poe when she was elected into office in 2013.

Poe, the daughter of late actor Fernando Poe Jr., was a former chairperson of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
